A private war memorial was a collaborative undertaking with the Watervliet Housing Authority, OMNI Senior Housing and RIDA Architecture. The David Fisher War Memorial commemorates a fallen hero from the Iraq war in 2004. The memorial is relatively conservative in design, aiming to incorporate family tributes that are comforting, noble and an enduring commemoration to David Fisher. David was a local hero and it was imperative to tie local heritage features into the design. The grand vertical bluestone boulders from the Watervliet Erie Canal were re-purposed and now flank the entrance into the memorial.
